The Mining Recruitment Group is a boutique executive search firm focused exclusively on the unique requirements of the mining industry.

We are seeking consummate mine supervisors for an exciting gold mining project in development. This is a residential role suited to experienced expats and candidates with significant experience through all stages of construction and production of a developing open pit project.

Reporting to the Mine Manager you would be responsible for leading and supervising day to day activity and operations and ensuring that schedule and production targets are met.

This role is suited to hands on mining professionals who have progressed through the ranks of mining operations and have solid generalist skills, especially in relation to heavy equipment, including shovels, dump trucks and excavation equipment and significant experience in civil works and mine construction, including road and pit development.

You will be a leader with an inclusive style that helps coach, train and develop teams and you will lead by example with a hands on approach, good communication and a commitment to safe work practices.

Tasks:

  • Plan, implement and monitor construction and production activities to ensure construction and mining schedules and production targets are met
  • Oversee operation and deployment of a variety of heavy equipment
  • Manage projects such as road building and pit development
  • Lead and coach individuals and teams, to ensure best practice safety and operating standards are applied and maintained
  • Develop and manage budgets, ensuring cost effective strategies are deployed to control expenditure
  • Comply with all the company’s policies, environmental standards and procedures
  • Ensure the continual development of workforce capability

Key attributes:

  • Extensive experience in mining, preferably open pit operations
  • Proven leadership capability and a track record of achieving success
  • Recognised as a safety advocate who leads by example
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop others
  • Ensures high workplace standards are met (safety, housekeeping, attendance, work quality, etc.)
  • Well developed communication skills
  • Expatriate experience
  • Comfortable in multi culture environments with appreciation of local culture and customs
